Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven. Set your oven to 160 °C and let it heat up while you prepare the dough.

  2. Cream Butter Mixture. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter, icing sugar, and vanilla essence. Whip on high until the mixture is light and fluffy.

  3. Sieve the dry ingredients. Sift the plain flour and corn flour into a separate bowl to ensure your cookies turn out irresistibly smooth.

  4. Combine both parts.

Gradually incorporate the sieved dry ingredients into the creamed butter mixture in parts, mixing gently. The result should be a soft, light dough.

  5. Optional toppings.

Want to add some flair? Sprinkle in some decorations, like colorful sprinkles, with the last portion of your dry ingredients.

  6. Shape your cookies.

Get creative! Roll the dough into balls and press them gently with a fork for a classic look, or pipe it into fun shapes. No matter the form, they’ll be delicious.

  7. Bake with care.

Place your cookies in the oven. Baking time varies depending on your oven and dough size, but start checking at the 10-minute mark. The slight color change is your cue.

  8. Cool and store.

Once baked, transfer the cookies to a cooling rack. When they’re completely cool, pack them into airtight containers or gift packs for sharing—or hoard them all for yourself!

Additional Notes:

For flavors like cocoa powder, matcha, or other dry ingredient-based options, simply incorporate them into the dry ingredient mix. However, keep in mind that you may need to adjust the proportions of the plain flour to maintain the right dough consistency. For instance, I typically substitute about 5% to 10% of the plain flour with cocoa powder. The exact amount will vary depending on the quality and type of flavoring agent used. The key is to focus on achieving a light, pliable dough that holds its shape while remaining easy to work with.
